Weather

Stuttgart week looks warm, humid and occasionally unsettled: daytime temperatures should mostly range between 22–28°C / 72–82°F, with mornings around 12–16°C / 54–61°F; winds are expected to remain fairly light, generally 10–20 km/h / 6–12 mph; humidity should average around 55–75%, with a mix of sunshine, clouds and a chance of scattered showers or thunderstorms on some days.

Player Statements

Siegemund, 2025: "The balls are pretty fast so you have to get used to the angles".

Shelton, 2025: "It was much hotter today. Sorry guys there weren’t very many rallies. I apologize. The ball was coming in really fast as I’m sure you saw. It was a hazard for the ball kids. I didn’t make that many returns but I hit a few in the big moments. This court is playing fast. I think in these conditions I’ll be tough to beat. I’m just happy to get some momentum here in Stuttgart.”

Struff, 2025: "Changing surfaces is never easy for a player. Some manage it faster, others need a bit more time. I'm always here very early to prepare for grass. I always find it very important – especially at the beginning – to do running exercises. We can slide on clay, but when switching to grass, we need a lot of time to adjust to the sliding and the ball's bounce. Running and movement are the be-all and end-all. You have to play deeper, the ball doesn’t come as high and you also have to adapt tactically. The points are a bit faster. The focus and concentration are a bit different. Because on other surfaces, you can recover from a break relatively quickly. On grass, it's a bit more difficult, so it's important to keep your focus high right from the start, be there from the start, and play every point."

Tiafoe, 2024: “It was my first time playing him on grass so it was tough, there’s a lot of tricky bounces on this grass and it plays very fast. I served very well today but was definitely a bit lucky on some of those break points.”

Duckworth, 2024: “I’m so happy, I feel like I’ve been playing great tennis and really enjoying the conditions. It’s super difficult to play against Shelton, he has one of the best serves in the world. It’s super hard to read so I just tried to stay patient and focus on my own service games and hope I got a chance on return. I think that already having played a few matches really helped me as I’m far more used to the conditions on the grass”.

Hurkacz, 2023: ”The court here is very fast, so losing concentration for a few seconds is enough."

Murray, 2022: "It’s quite quick compared to some of the courts we play, but I like it."

Federer, 2019:   ”The court here in Halle is easier to play on than last week in Stuttgart. It’s a bit harder, so the ball bounces up more."

Zverev, 2019: “Stuttgart was much faster. It was rather like a fast hard court actually. And it was also difficult to return."

Summary

The fastest tournament on the circuit, so players with strong serves can do well.

The weather will be warm, what will favour the quick conditions.

Stuttgart is located at an altitude of 225 meters above sea level, which also helps a little.

Note that any player with a good serve can challenge others with much higher rankings.

Not only it's quicker than s-Hertogenbosch, the bounce of the ball is also lower here.

This is always, but here is specially important the adaptation of players coming from the qualifiers, as they have an advantage.
